Blue & Gold Star Walk of Honor

Purchase a star on the Blue and Gold Star Walk of Honor

For more than 100 years (since WWI), military families have used blue and gold stars to honor family members who serve. A Blue Star celebrates someone who has served or is actively serving; a Gold Star commemorates one who was killed in action.

During our Salute to Service Week, Concordia University Ann Arbor will honor veterans with stars placed along Geddes Road, the route leading to our Central Campus, and also the local Ann Arbor VA Healthcare Center. For $22, you can sponsor a star to honor someone you know in our Blue and Gold Star Walk of Honor. The $22 figure represents “22 A Day,” an estimate of the number of veterans lost to suicide, and all proceeds will support Fold Of Honor – Motor City Chapter.

Stars can be personalized with the name of the veteran you are honoring, along with the military branch and dates of service or killed-in-action date. The stars will be yours to keep at the close of Salute To Service Week.

(Please note: The honor of a Gold Star is reserved for someone who was killed in action, not simply a veteran who has since passed away. Thank you for respecting this meaningful distinction.)
